One in four of us will experience mental health difficulties at some stage in our lives. Some illnesses are short-term and never re-occur; others are longer-term with periods of good health, but the individual may also suffer relapses. As with any illness, the right support at the right time can make all the difference.

We aim to support people with mental health needs to make as full a recovery as possible. This process will vary for each person. Mind offers a comprehensive range of services to help people to work towards their own individual recovery.

Bedfordshire and Luton Mind does not offer specialist services i.e. counselling or advocacy but can signpost to other organisations that may be able to help in these ways.

Copies of all Bedfordshire and Luton Mind policies as well as Board meeting minutes are available on request. Please contact our HQ on 01525 844160 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Social inclusion means that people do not feel isolated and excluded from their local community. To be able to achieve this each local group offers a range of activities that supports the work we do:Providing a social setting for people to make friends, follow their interests or learn new skillsEncouraging healthy living with exercise and healthy eatingOffering the opportunity to gain educational qualifications both in-house and at local collegesSupporting people to exploring routes into voluntary work and paid employmentIn some cases, staff and volunteers support individuals on a one-to-one basis and encourage them to participate in and enjoy their local community, including attending Mind groups.

These partnerships are normally time limited and are reviewed regularly. We are increasingly supporting people to become more confident to access their local amenities and services, thereby helping their recovery process. Fun day trips and outings are organised regularly. There are venues throughout Bedfordshire and Luton and they are open on a variety of days and times throughout the week and some evenings.
